Give the Gift That Lasts a Lifetime!
Today's young people face life-threatening challenges on a daily basis — substance abuse, gangs, neglect, AIDS, poverty — the list is far too long. If our youth are to grow up and become productive citizens of society — often if they are to grow up at all — they need a place where they can be just kids. They need caring adults to help them develop the skills and self-confidence to say “no” to dangerous pastimes. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that — and much more.
Our legacy of positive youth development dates back to when the Club was founded for young people in need of a place to call their own. The story of Boys & Girls Clubs is the story of America — filled with challenge, opportunity and hope.
Throughout our history, we have always held a special concern for children from disadvantaged circumstances. Our comprehensive youth development programs and services provide young people with the skills to overcome their challenges and become responsible citizens and leaders.
Your investment in Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley helps guarantee a strong future for our young people and our nation. We invite you to invest in America's future. The choice is yours, but the rewards are shared by everyone — especially the children who represent America's future.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley is an tax exempt organization, duly qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, contributions to which are tax deductible in accordance with Federal law.

| Planned Giving |
Our mission is to help young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Your planned gift can help build our endowment and underwrite our mission into the future.
A Planned Gift could be:
WILL OR CODICIL BEQUEST: A bequest in your will can be used to leave any of the above outright gifts to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley or to establish a planned contribution.
CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY: It is possible to make a donation of cash, securities or real property to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity to provide you or another individual with guaranteed, partially tax-free income for life.
LIFE INSURANCE: There are several ways to use life insurance to make a donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley. The Clubs can be named as owner and beneficiary to an existing policy or a new policy can be established.
RETIREMENT ASSETS: The combination of federal income, estate and excise taxes can seriously erode the value of retirement savings. Naming the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley as a beneficiary of these assets can save your estate and heirs both income tax and federal estate taxes.
Goals & Gifts
Whether you want to eliminate taxes or benefit from an increased income stream, there is a gift to fit every objective. And no matter how or what you give, rest assured that you will be helping a cause close to your heart. The following chart details a gift vehicle for every goal. After determining the gift that is right for you, meet with your financial advisor or our organization to begin implementing your wishes. Please call the Development Office at 309-757-5777 x 204 or email, Dean Bacon, Director of Development, dbacon@bgcmv.org for information. |

| It Just Takes One... |
| |
Are you the One?
When it comes to our kids, we usually think of the home, with a solid family life and parental guidance, as the answer to nurturing and protecting them. But for too many children in our community, there’s a gap. Research indicates the hours of 3–8 p.m. are the most dangerous time of day for young people – when crime involving youth doubles – as they leave school and return to empty households or neighborhood streets, idle and unsupervised.
Club member Yadira is a senior at Moline High School. When asked about the Boys & Girls Clubs, she replied “It’s like my second home, and I couldn’t picture my life without it!”
Club Member Toianti Faulkner, age 16 writes: “Boys and Girls Club keeps me off the street when times get hard. I know that if I have no other place to go, I can come here. It has helped me stay away from jail and possible death.”
The board and staff of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley believe every child and teen should be involved in a safe, structured, supervised after–school program, every day. It costs the Club $500 a year to properly serve each youth member, yet a youth membership costs just $12 per year. We purposely keep dues low, so that all children will have the opportunity to join.
How can you help us to continue to make a lasting and important impact on these young lives?
We ask that you consider supporting the Clubs’ It Just Takes One annual fundraising campaign. It’s an investment in our community’s most precious resource – our children. Your gift can be an annual donation or you may pledge to support us throughout the year. Individuals who donate $10,000 will be recognized as a Jeremiah Milbank Society Member and receive national recognition through the Boys & Girls Club of America.
For more information on how you can make a difference in a life of a child, and discuss benefits of being a supporter of BGCMV, please contact Dean Bacon, Director of Development, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley at 309-757-5777 x 204 or dbacon@bgcmv.org
It just takes one person to help make a difference. It just takes you! |
